How Sadguru Aniruddha Bapu’s Grace Saved My Niece from a Lifetime of Disability
- Sumedha Kumar
This is an unforgettable experience related to my younger brother, Shri Rajeev Dutt’s family in Dubai. It demonstrates that no matter where we are in the world, the blessings of our Sadguru Aniruddha Bapu, are always with us. The Sadguru immediately comes forward to rescue His devotees from life's trials and tribulations, transcending all barriers of time and distance.
In May 2002, my sister-in-law gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Eesha. Since my brother was stationed in Dubai, my sister-in-law returned there with the baby three months after her delivery. Being the youngest member of the family, Eesha received a lot of attention and affection from everyone. However, even after celebrating her first birthday, she still couldn't stand on her own, which worried me and raised concerns about her development. Family members reassured me, saying that some children reach developmental milestones, such as standing and walking, later than others.
I was in Hong Kong while my brother and his wife were in Dubai, so all I could do was advise them to take Eesha to the doctor for her regular check-ups. Eventually, Eesha started walking at 18 months. Since I was extremely worried about her progress, my brother recorded a video of her walking and sent it to me in Hong Kong. However, after watching the clip, I became even more concerned. I didn’t think Eesha's walking looked normal. I urged my brother to again consult a doctor. My sister commented, “You’re worrying for no reason. Nowadays, since children wear diapers, she probably walks the way she does.” I felt saddened reflecting on my tendency to think negatively.
In December 2004, my cousin was set to marry in Mumbai, where the whole family planned to gather. However, my Sadguru had other plans. He understood that no more time could be wasted. As a result, my sister-in-law decided to come to Mumbai for Diwali instead of waiting until December and chose to stay until after the wedding.
Once they arrived in Mumbai, I checked on Eesha’s well-being. She admitted that she had also started to worry about Eesha. I advised them to take Eesha to Suchit Dada without delay. Thanks to Dada’s timely advice, they were able to meet a pediatric orthopedic doctor in Mumbai. The doctor informed them that they had come at just the right time, because any further delay could have left Eesha physically handicapped for the rest of her life.
Truly, it was not us who had rushed to the doctor in time. It was our Sadguru, Aniruddha Bapu, who had rushed to us. It was due to His blessings that my sister-in-law happened to come to Mumbai ahead of her scheduled visit, and later we obtained His guidance. Since he was a specialist in the same field, the doctor immediately started Eesha's treatment. The joint where the bones of her leg were attached to the pelvis had not developed properly, which was the reason for her abnormal walk. She needed surgery on both of her joints. The first surgery lasted for six hours and required her leg to be in a plaster cast for two months post-surgery.
The day of the second surgery coincided with my cousin’s wedding. It had to be done on that day because the doctor would be traveling and out of town for 15 days after that. Delaying the surgery would have exposed her to further risk. We took turns attending the wedding and being at the hospital to provide support and assistance. We managed to get through such a difficult situation only due to the support and strength that our beloved Sadguru Aniruddha Bapu provided us. The second surgery lasted almost seven hours, and the doctors were very pleased with the results. They assured us that the baby’s recovery would be fast and successful. Eesha would need to stay in a plaster cast below her waist for almost two months after that.
Anyone would have been devastated to see a child in that state, but my brother and sister-in-law have immense faith in Bapu. They were deeply indebted to Him for saving their little daughter from a lifetime of physical disability. Eesha recovered extremely well with the help of physiotherapy after the plaster was removed. The physiotherapists were amazed at her speedy recovery. Everyone was sad that Eesha had to miss almost a year of school. However, Sadguru’s grace had a solution for this as well. After returning to Dubai, Eesha was admitted to Cambridge School, and within a year, she received a double promotion.
Therefore, Eesha did not miss her academic year. The epitome of this experience lies in the fact that Eesha won second place in a race held at her school. All of this is the Grace of Sadguru Bapu!
