Blood Donation Camp - 2017
This will be the 18th year of Blood Donation Camp to be organized by Dilasa Medical Trust and Rehabilitation Centre, supported by Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation and Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management.
The activity which was initiated by Dr. Aniruddha D. Joshi (Sadguru Bapu), in the year 1999, has gradually gained momentum and spread all over Maharashtra. During the year 2016 a total of 106 camps were successfully conducted all over Maharashtra, in which a total of 11,316 units of blood were collected. The magnitude of the activity can be gauged from these sustained efforts throughout the year.
Collection of Blood units is initiated every year by arranging a Mega Blood Donation Camp in Mumbai. This year, the MEGA BLOOD DONATION camp is being organized on 16th April 2017, at Shree Harigurugram (New English High School), Bandra (East). This is because, during summer, while on the one hand there is a huge requirement of blood, on the other hand, the availability of blood is scarce during this period. It is heartening to note despite the hot and humid conditions, the Shraddhavan friends of Dr. Aniruddha D. Joshi (Bapu) flock in huge numbers at Shree Harigurugram to participate in this unique Blood Donation camp. The camp is indeed unique because it has been successfully organized for the past 17 years, during which a total of 51,900 units of blood have been collected. The atmosphere during the camp is festive and everybody experiences the Joy of Giving.
A total of 33 blood banks from Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Nagpur will be participating in the camp this year. Apart from the medical staff arranged by the respective hospitals, 60 doctors and 70 paramedics representing the Sanstha will be offering their seva in conducting the camp. Arrangements for water and refreshments have been made for the Shraddhavan donors attending the camp. Bus services from outskirts of Mumbai have been arranged to ply Shraddhavan s desirous of donating blood at the Camp.
Over the last seventeen years till December 2016, the Sanstha has organized a total of 852 blood donation camps all over Maharashtra, including the Mega Camp, during which a total of 117138 units of blood have been collected.
I am very much sure that this year too there will be an overwhelming response to the Blood Donation Camp and would like to acknowledge every single Shraddhavans wanting to donate blood for the camp. For those Shraddhavan s who are ineligible to donate blood, arrangements are being made for them to run the Charkha because that too is a ‘donation of efforts’.
